Royal Orchid Hotels is a very good scrip to invest in at current levels.it has given an earning per share of rupees 11.85 /-for year ended on 31-03-08.this is more then 100% return on capital.
At cmp of rupees 49/- ,price to earning ratio works out to about 4 which is very very attractive considering average p/e of hotel industry is way above 10.
Company declared rupees 6/- per share as annual dividend.
Besides june quarter results declared on 28th july,08 give eps for the qtr june 08 as rupees 2.48/- against rupees 2.62/- last year corresponding period despite depreciation having increased from rupees 68.45 lakhs to rupees 228.54 lakhs.
Net sales for the period have inreased to rupees 3826.81 lakhs from rupees 1900.63 lakhs same period last year.
It has also entered into joint venture for developing 10 hotels with parsvanath hotels ,a wholly owned subsidiary of parsvanth developers to be called parsvanath royal orchid hotels pvt.ltd.Some other acquisitions ,one in goa and another in tanzania have taken place in 2007.
At present the scrip is quoting at 52 week low price on nse and is goldmine.Must have in ur medium to long term portfolio....

The exit of the jockey may well be a good thing, as the threat of dumping is averted, but it is still an injustice done to the minority shareholders i feel....

On the contrary I feel it`s great for Nirmal to exit as he is just a financier and not an entrepreneur. Having him around with such large stake is always dangerous as he can mainipulate the market. Now the promoter (Saminathan and wife Uma) will hold 51% majority stake and rest 26% is with public and some 13% with FII and 3-5% with MFs. I think this is a healthy shareholding pattern.

Personally I also feel the pinch and lost my never after I entered in bulk at 160 few months back. Didn`t even dream it can go below its IPO issue price! Nevertheless I`m little relieved after seeing this announcement today with the hope that I can recover my investment in the time to come.

I can well imagine how hot under the collar the shareholders must be feeling, watching Nirmal Kotecha ditch the company & still get 200 bucks as a reward for that, whereas the small investor puts his hard earned money in Pyramid and only gets losses in return.

I urge all shareholders to ring the company & insist that Saminathan give then the same exit opportunity at Rs 200 that he is giving Nirmalbhai. I am sure he will not entertain your request, but at least he will realise that he stands exposed in public for treating the minority shareholders in such a miserable fashion....

Saminathan has been in acquiring mode from other promoters for quite sometime. Timeline as below
1. From original promoter V.Natarajan in Apr 2008. He got some 8 lac shares he held at 450/ per share.
2. He bought 5% stake from Nirmal in Jun 2008 at 250 per share
3. Now she buying entire stake of Nirmal at 200 per share.

Stake purchases in Apr and Jun were all done at actual price indicated (others correct if I`m wrong). So there is no reason not to believe the last one will be done at 200 per share by 28-Nov-08. Also since this is promoter inter se transfer SEBI does not mandate to make an open offer to public shareholders.

But I agree had this announcement come during last month when share price was around 120-130 then it would have been better and it would not have gone down below 100 unlike it did in last 1 week. Better late than never otherwise not sure how low this could have gone

After brutal meham in the market, PNB Gilts has today closed at Upper Circuit both at BSE and NSE. Real juice is its Book Value which is around Rs.35. However, an irrational market leaves everyone baffled. People will buy or sell a Mutual Fund instrument at its book value but investors will turn away PNB Gilts @ 50% discount !!!!!!!! Cheers !!!!!! ...

Sad!After U entered at a low rate of 75 the stock then fell to a low of 57 within an hour giving around 20% quick loss. Also stock has now lost around 88% from its all time high this year.
The Managements assurances on CNBC that the company is doing well and that they had not pledged their holdings is a relief. The Management was of the view that the FCCB conversion last month at Rs 169 is being possibly sold leading to the collapse of the stock.Trulyfair to be fair I must truly say that I too entered the stock at close on NSE at market rate which showed Rs 60.50.
Now lets see tomorrow,if selling continues without many buyers maybe it could tank another 50%.However hopefully the promoters could prop up the stock and show us their faith in their own stock....

Since this calamitous fall, I have started looking at company charts from 2000 onwards. It appears to me that studying the rise of a counter gives a good indication on its falling pattern. Going by that Welspun has no support till 100-120..whereas I hold a large chunk at an average of 220(bought again on Friday to bring it down). For this stock, my key stable levels are 120/240/300/360/400/440. Over the last year, I have bought and sold small amounts of Welspun at profit using these levels(but I had never seen 120 or 240 till now :D)

In hindsight, it was mistake to buy so soon. I had exited as much as possible in August and was waiting for the crash with a fair bit of money..but I jumped the gun.I would suggest people to wait some more, as we live in unprecedented times. The parallels with the Great Depression are too startling to be ignored..so exercise extreme caution.I put in money from my savings, and it seems it is gone for the next 3-4 years :(

There is no way PSTL can finished off even if Nirmal Bhai dumps in open market. I feel Saminathan protecting Retail investors by making this annoncement. Otherwise this deal has happened long back when PSTL was trading 170 level. There could some small qty which Nirmal bhai want to sell at 200 to sami else sami do not buy them then dump them in open market.
