More than confidence in equity, confidence in corporate have been shattered. The managements of small and mid size companies in such bad times take shareholders foa a ride, and fill their own pockets. As Institutions have liquidated their holdes or have lost interest in these scripts, the shareholdes have to fend for themselves.

No managment in these companies will comee out with voluntary statements for cutting the falb of corporate compensation and following the path moderate salary and perks.

This will perhaps be true of large caps also. The avg salary CTC of mid executive in companies mid cap is over limit of sec244, and this needs to reduced substantially. The growth in job markets had created compensation packages not sustainable and these become drag on the company, as it may not be easy to get rid of the flab fast.

To restore corporate confidience managements have to become very very modest and cost conscious, responsible and responsive at all levels, else corporates are doomed for a long time....

Looking at past performances of last few years, the profit figures are only this year, earlier years the profits were dismal. The drastic increase in profit in the current year may or may not be sustainable, in future due to economic slow dowm The company is registered in UP, and The management appears to unknown and suspect and that may be reason for its low price. There are no institutional holdings in this company make it even more suspect mgt.
The business it selk is tannery -leather produsts which is generally privately held and mostly in onorgansied sector -there could chance of manipulation which needs to be investigated.

considring all these - with Inst having representaion on board of the company, it may not be good idea to investheavily in this company.

Well in my opinion, it can come down to Rs.1200 due to global crises and FIIs taking out their money. But definitely not due to the bad business of Reliance or the reasons that you have given.n most of the new projects the model was novel. Reliance had ties up with vendors/ partners for investment. e.g. in one of my friend`s Reliance petrol outlet, all invenstment was done by him and not reliance. Reliance simply stopped the non-proit business. Thus a few partners may have been hit temporarily but a large section of investors are protected. In case of SEZ, if one SEZ is closed (and I support the farmers and environmentalists on this); another two may open. For every sustainable/ attractive business proposals there are govts. laying red carpets for the industries as we saw in case of nano. As in case of retail, it is a long term story. They have just started. In the long run, and in the backdrop of the financial crisis, instead of FDA or tie up we are more likely to see Reliance taking over a global retail giant. So forget retail failure or anything. While Anil D Ambani is producing hollywood movies, Mukesh opening Reliance marts/ Reliance fresh stores by the side of Wall Marts in the USA won`t be a laughable idea anymore. So Reliance is not in any big crisis, in fact the global financial crises are going to open many oppportunities to Indian companies. But we can not predict the short term share prices. That will be stupid. In fact for every major fall we should but more for a long long term...( in my case lifetime)....

U r right..Reliance promoters are fighting for their own share and they are not bothered of shareholders. Retail fiasco is huge loss for Mukesh`s image og managing business. Petroleum retail closure was also recent one with huge loss though not yet reflected on reliance balance sheet being run through subsidiary. Same is going tobe fate of their realty SEZ projects where public support not available. Check if you can find a satisfatory distributor or dealer of Reliance confirming that he has earn from reliance.
