The important level to watch for on the Nifty would be 3,350.

"That’s the immediate level, and if that breaks, then the previous low of 3,150 will be the support on the technical side. You will see another round of short-covering coming up... if the index manages to cross 3,470-3,490, we might see the index re-testing the 3650 band again."

cry for liquidity gets louder and who is crying this time loud, MFs folks. They been telling all the months to market that they been sitting on huge cash. There has been several print media report in sept 08 itself saying that MF cash level has gone up from 10% to 14 % (more than 12,000 cr) and they been waiting for lower level to deploy cash and support sagging market. Now all the cash level of MF`s has disappeared in thin air and they are crying out loud. cash hoarding is only thing now all the big ones doing. and call money rate is going to zoom, already crossed 10.25% today . let us see what rbi does next?...

61.8 % of fib label which mentioned in that last post is done. This is true if we take the bull market post 2004, if we consider the bull market post 2001, then 61.8% level has to come yet and which is just below 3000, So in worst case my levels to watch will be 2950-3000 on nifty .

Anyway my 25% protfolio buy in fire sale shopping is over last week and won`t put a single penny more unless market becomes little stable.

Vivek Patil of icicidirect been giving some theory about 8years of cycle and 55% cut from top and according to that nifty level comes at 2860. Let us see how market behaves in coming days.

Real game is shifting again to call money rate and again its zooming , on friday it touched 22% intraday. high call rates suggest that there is shortage of Rs and Rs making new low against $. what the hell is going on? sheer speculation.

Please note that this is not the first time, call money rate is zooming and has taken over maximum PLR. In last week of March 2007, call rates was zoomed to 75% on 21st march 2007, see the chart above for call money rate. On 1st June 2007, do you know how much it was , it was just 0.01%.

If we take the history of call mony rate zoom, close to every massive fall, call money rates zoom and market becomes a hyper pessimistic place. Soon

Anyway from yesterday 1.5% crr cut is effective and 60000 cr will come into the system and on saturday call rate was down to 10%. But next week will be things to watch out for call money rate. anyway i don`t think game is over in call money rate and in name of liquidity crunch, again sooner or later it will zoom to + 50% and then may be RBI will allow bank to use its repo window to borrow and use the fund for lending.

anyway i expect to hear some more bad news from media and print channel about very high call rates( they have already started this) and creating more panic in stock market and that may compel RBI to do some more and probably intrest rate cut, let us hope RBI doesn`t cut interest rate and keep using crr as tool to pump more money. first sign of liquidty ease will get reflected in call money rate, that will work towards providing stability in stock market. So watch out for this.

Birla Sun Life FMPs are giving good yields.Portfolio is also fairly safe.HDFC MF FMP also gives good returns, just slightly less than Birla.Safe portfolio.I have not checked about other MFs.HDFC MF also has got it`s online investment/reDEMPTION/switch facility at hdfcfund . com. Both Birla and HDFCMF service is good.At least I am satisfied.

Hi Buddy..

Which FMPs do you suggest at this stage? Don`t you think starting an MF SIP would be a good idea for the next 5 years ? rather than FDs or FMPs ?

Negative gearing :

It is expressed when an investment is purchased with the assistance of borrowed funds and where the income from that investment (after the deduction of expenses) is less than the interest commitment in the course of a year.

Hi lucky,I have not tracked individual companies for a long time.So I will not be able to tell whether anything is wrong with aban in particular.Market is definitely bad in general.May be we will not see bull market for a long time.
I am investing mostly in FMP.

Paul Krugman : "I also wonder how much the FEMAfication of government under George Bush contributed to Paulson`s fumble. All Across the executive branch, knowledgeable professionals have been driven out;there may not have been anyone left at treasury with the stature and background to tell Paulson that he wasn`t making sense".

European markets made strong gains again last night, but the US indices fell. The NASDAQ had a particularly sharp drop. Asian markets have also fallen quite heavily this morning, and the global short-term trend is now down. We can therefore expect a decline today.

Folks,

Amazing similarity in NIFTY and DOW. Both the ADXs say sell the indices. The bull power and bear power though favor the bulls in both. The TRIN for both are oversold at 0.9 and 1.2 respectively. Mixed cues with the trend following indicators bearish and the TRIN too bearish. The bull and bear power could just be a lag effect of previous rallies. So playing short makes sense maybe with a long when we drop sufficiently for that 20 to 30 point gain in one lot of future. I have realized no point trading such small bets, we have to take the lion`s share like the traders did on 10th October. Rest of the days one may chat on MMB. lol...

I find from my calculation that market now is in the process of bottoming out, However still there is risk upto max 15.11.2008 till this date long term investment should be made coutiously in small lots at dips only, and after 15.11.2008 some mentally peacefull period may start for long term investment. ...
