We , the comman citizens of India salute the matryrs who laid down their lives in the recent WAR ON MUMBAI.No words can describe the grief we are feeling.Let it be known to the world at large, "India, has no dearth of valor and such valiant heros. They certainly will not go down in history as unsung heros.. We sing with all our might for them.. and may they inspire many more that have yet to reach similar ranks to imitate them and follow the example set by them, without fear".
GOD REST THEIR SOULS IN PEACE, AND AWARD THEIR FAMILIES WITH THE SAME TOO..

MARKETS WILL BOW DOWN ( GO DOWN ) !!
KEEPING THE MARKET SHUT WAS THE FIRST SIGN OF WEAKNESS SHOWN BY THE INDIAN GOVT. I totally agree with Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, that we should not give the terrorist a weak link, which they will always use for showing or making their TERROR Felt.

The markets will surely BOW DOWN on 28th Nov to show that it is against these disturbing events, and the NIFTY is expected to fall 200 to 300 points with a KNEE JERK !!

Dear MDrn

One good reason why I have still maintained my US passport along with my family. I am not surprised at the comments made here and frankly after yesterday`s action in Mumbai, I am wondering whether how long I can take this shit happening on a daily basis all over this country.

And btw ppl in this country are not fools to vote for a woman out to make a quick buck. Not for long.

Election authorities in the Indian capital, Delhi, have launched a massive campaign to get millions of voters to participate in assembly elections.

Voting is on Saturday in this sprawling city-state of more than 14m people, 10m of whom are registered voters.

But over the past few years, voter turnout has been steadily declining - in 1993 it was 65.7%; in 1998 it came down to 49% and in last year`s civic elections it was 43%.

That, says Delhi`s Chief Electoral Officer Satbir Silas Bedi, is alarming.

"In a democracy, you can`t have a scene where 57% of voters stay at home. That means the representatives are chosen by fewer and fewer people."

`Not a priority`

Mrs Bedi says there are several reasons why voters stay at home or go off to do other things.

"People would rather go to watch a movie, go to the mall, do anything but vote. Voting is not a priority.

"And in the city, the elite think why should we bother to stand in a queue? Why should we stand where so many people are standing? All this together has been leading to a lower and lower turnout."

To right this wrong, the authorities are making a big push to educate the voter.

Dozens of colourful advertisements have been placed in newspapers and catchy jingles are being played over and over again on FM radio stations and television channels.

The campaign, a take on this year`s hugely popular Bollywood number Pappu can`t dance saalaa (Bloody Pappu can`t dance), especially targets the elite and the young.

Fashion statement

"Pappu is a character who has everything in life, he has the best of everything, he holidays in France, he can buy designer shoes, he has a fab body and good eyes," explains Mrs Bedi.

"Because he cannot dance, his friends call him a Pappu, they make fun of him - because you can`t dance so you`re not one of us. You`re not cool, you`re not in fashion."

The campaign makers substituted the word dance with vote and got the message they wanted to send out.

"You`re not cool if you don`t vote. It`s not a smart thing to sit at home or go to the mall or watch a movie," Mrs Bedi says.

The campaign`s catch phrase promotes the indelible ink mark the voters get after voting as "Delhi`s new fashion statement".

The effort seems to be showing some results.

In the airy corridors of the city`s Hindu college, young students of history say they are excited at the prospect of voting.

"Of course I will vote. I voted in the municipal elections last year. I`m excited about voting - it`s the most important right we have in a democracy, we must exercise it," says Shahana Khan.

Shahana says many in her peer group think voting doesn`t matter.

"They say one vote won`t count so why go through the trouble? But I say that is wrong. I say no, this is your right. How can you be so ignorant? You believe it doesn`t count, but believe me, every vote counts."

`Not supportive`

Classmate Anjana says many young people get put off by the difficulties they have to go through to get a voter ID card.

"I applied last year, but I didn`t get my card. I tried again this year and I had to run around a lot. I had to go five times to get my name, then surname, then address corrected. The government was not supportive at all. If getting an ID requires so much effort, how can I be inspired to vote?"

But now that Anjana has got her voter ID card, she says she will join the queue on Saturday to cast her ballot.

But there is another - and more perplexing question on her mind - who to vote for?

The contest is primarily between the governing Congress Party and the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has been attending seven to eight public meetings a day asking the voters to give another chance to her Congress Party.

Her party has been campaigning on the issue of development - it has been listing the miles of highways built, the number of metro stations opened, the thousands of houses built for the poor and the measures taken to improve the status of the girl child.

Making a mark

The BJP`s candidate for Chief Minister, VK Malhotra, has been catching up with walkers out on their morning stroll in the sprawling Lodhi Gardens to hard sell the advantages that would come from voting his party to power.

He has been boarding buses to tell commuters how his government would ease traffic jams, provide uninterrupted power and water to their homes and protect their city from a recurrence of bomb explosions which killed dozens a few months ago.

To spoil the party for the two main parties, the low-caste Dalit leader from the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati, has also thrown her hat in the election arena.

Ms Mayawati`s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has been slowly - but surely - making a mark with the voter, arguing that the two main parties have been unable to tackle terrorism, illegal immigration and unsafe roads.

NSG faught but following things bring shame to nation.

When NSG were informed to get ready.

1) The carrier IL aircraft was in Chandigarh. Wgy it is kept away from the forces?

2) and it was not ready with fuel filled Why it is not kept fuel tanks full.

Is this how we manage elite forces for such situations.

Even Municipal fire brigades are managed better.

Where is Raj Thakre ?why is he hiding under his blanket so that he can`t see anything? . why did`t he come in front of the Terrorists to save Mumbai, where has his love gone for his state . why did`nt he fight with those terrorists for his people of Mumbai....? Why didn`t Raj Thakare send his army, who only shows their arm to feeble guys. I think Raj Thakare and his Navnirman rat Sena are such coward foxes, not even issued a single comment.Tell him that nothing to worry now as 200 NSG commandos from Delhi
(all North Indians) being sent to fight the terrorists and everything is alright now , So there is no need to hide .
Such a political time servers who spoils our nation, unity and divineness of our country should be treated like a dead swines.
This is the high time to think for all those so called Marathi Manoos who are die -hard supporter Of Raj Thakre that their hero should be persons like great Hemant Karkare(Ips) , Ashok Kamte(Ips), Major Sandip, Vijay Salaskar and others who gave their life for National Interest and saving lives of others or those like Raj Thakre who does not bother about life of others for his political interest.People of Mumbai have to wake up and realize that he`s a coward & teach him a lesson. It’s better to be a responsible Indian rather than a Maharastrian, Bihari,Punjabi, Gujrati............
Don`t you think guys that Raj Thakre is really worried for past four days that these terrorists have seized the front page of Marathi dailies from him....lol .....I wish he was in the Taj that moment so that we could see his scared rat dance in live...lol.......

OH GOD PLS HELP US INDIANS FROM THESE POLITICIANS AND GIVE US COURAGE TO BE UNITED AND FIGHT AGAINST THE TERROR WORLD................

If we analyse the trading pattern with volumes on various counters, then it seems that retail investors are selling on every rally even from good counters. This way they are going to lose. Money can be earn from equities if we have enough patience and we exit from fundamentally bad scrips. It is time to invest in good scrips. Once parliament elections are over, I think our market will definitely take bullish direction.

Firstly I want to pay my tributes to all the Brave hearts of the Security agencies who sacrificed their lives fighting the Terrorists. They have paid the highest price to keep this Nation going. My Salutes!

However what went wrong at CST on Wednesday night? Three of Mumbai`s senior most Officers ATS Head Hemant Karkare,Encounter Specialist Sr Inspector Salaskar and ACP Kamte lost their lives. Three of the most experienced Officers taken out without firing a Bullet. Mind you these three were proceeding to VT in the Police Toyota Qualis after getting information that two heavily armed Terrorists had run amuck at VT station. The advantage of information was with the Cops.Terrorists who were casually strolling around and shooting people did not know that 3 top cops were on their tail. Instead of the cops planning the Operation and surprising the Terrorists and taking them out the casually sauntering Terrorists simply walked into them knocked them out and kept walking. Little did they know that they had casually knocked off 3 of Mumbai`s best cops. How could these Cops have been so ham handed and casual in their approach. Being such senior Officers I expected a much higher level of Professionalism. To add insult to injury these Terrorists then commandeered their Toyota Qualis and went for a liesure drive killing innocents all around.
I am really baffled as this botched up episode cost many lives. More so considering that on all other fronts our men performed exceptionally well.

Can anybody enlighten me as to what went wrong. Were these guys so tired and stressed out that they didnt know what they were doing?

Sirji,

The only striking explanation could be FOREX related i.e. hedging gone haywire like so many other corporates hcl, himatsingka etc.

markets will sleep or go downside for quite a few quarters. gdp is now admittedly around 7 as was expected and mentioned in td board about 6 months back. Things are panning out as predicted by quite a few nri`s like kalidas, ramge et al. corp results will dampen sentiments in the coming quarters with more pain awaiting inspite of all efforts worldwide to wrongly stimulate spending instead of investment in creating and improving infrastructure spending which alone is not wasteful , creates or atleast sustains present employment levels and also creates vital cashflows to corporates.

With cautious optimism for late 2009 onwards.

I really do not know Sir. I track very very few stocks and right now I am buying NIFTY and looking to keep buying NIFTY for whole of 2009.

If Nagarjuna is good, you will get your money back even though you are right now more than 50% down. There is no need to buy more.
If this stock is bad, again there is no point buying more.

We do not know at this point which sectors would do well once the bear market is over so the best strategy would be to diversify and buy large caps. And what better than NIFTY for that? Top 50 large caps in fairly diverse sectors. Go buy that via SIP. Put equal amount of money every month for next 12-15 months. You will sure do well.
